Algebra Tutoring

From Pre-Algebra to Algebra II (and even College Algebra) our expert tutors will help you ace and even enjoy algebra.

Algebra Tutoring Services

Not just learning the basics but mastering them is crucial to success in higher levels of math and even basic high school science classes. We work with our students to develop a mastery of fundamentals of Algebra and to learn the skills to build on those as the concepts become more complex.

Just as with lower-level algebra, fundamentals are the key. We work with students to determine what they already know and build upon it in a way that inspires confidence. In addition, these skills are essential to some of the other classes students are in-chemistry, biology, earth science. Our approach is interdisciplinary, and we seek to help students understand concepts not only in the realm of mathematics, but as they apply in the real world as well.

Algebra Tutoring FAQ

In Arithmetic, you are given all the numbers and just need to perform operations on them. In Algebra, things become more abstract. Algebra requires a whole new way of thinking in which problems are solved abstractly, not just for one number, but for any number. As Dr. Keith Devlin states in his article about the importance of algebra, Algebra requires a new way of thinking. Algebra tutoring lets students learn how to think algebraically.

ELI5: Why is it colder on mountain tops?
The way I picture it is by imaging a cross section near the top of mountain and another near the bottom of a mountain. Let's simplify things and imagine both cross sections as circles with a radius of 1. The valley would be represented by the equation of x^2+y^2>1 and the mountain top would be x^2+y^2<1. Enter these on and it becomes easier to visualize the difference. Thanks for commenting!

ELI5: Why is it colder on mountain tops?
In what way does mountain have less earth than valleys? Both are composed of earth and both have similar surface areas that's exposed to the sun.
