Find the Right Summer Camp for Your Student!
In honor of the Fun Safe Philly kick off event happening today at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center at 3:30 p.m., we here at Tutor Delphia want to help you get started on your summer planning. The last day of school is approaching, and we can already feel the summer heat.
First, we encourage you to stop by the Fun Safe Philly kick off event for some free music, snacks and games. You may even get the chance to shake hands with Mayor Michael Nutter or take a picture with the Philly Phanatic.

Nature and Science Programs
- Name: Academy Explorers Summer Camp
- Place: Academy of Natural Science, Drexel University
- Description: Campers ages 5-12 years old can learn about natural science in a safe, fun, and engaging way. Each week of camp explores an exciting new theme and features an off-site field trip! From fossils to amazing animals, check out the different camp themes to find the best fit for your child’s interests.
- Dates: Different themed weeks running from July 6-August 28
- Name: Summer Adventure Camp
- Place: Morris Arboretum
- Description: For thrill-seeking nature lovers ages 6 to 10, Summer Adventure camp is a place to explore insects, mystical creatures and aquatic animals (along with some other great topics).
- Dates: Weekly sessions from June 22 – August 7
Tech Programs
- Name: Lavner Camps
- Place: Surrounding suburban schools along with the University of Pennsylvania, Rosemont College, Gwynedd Mercy University and West Chester University
- Description: Learn everything from video game design to robotics with Legos. Each location offers a variety of STEM related programs, as well as, other specialized skills, such as music, culinary arts and jewelry design.
- Dates: Various dates starting June 22 through the end of August
- Name: iD Tech Camps
- Place: Villanova University and the University of Pennsylvania
- Description: Campers ages 7-17 can sign up for week-long courses in Java Script programming or web design and photography. Each location offers different programs, focusing primarily on programming and graphic design.
- Dates: Programs are offered as early as June 15 and run through the end of July
Reading Program
- Name: Summer READS
- Place: There are three locations to choose from in Philadelphia:
Sharswood Elementary School
Bache-Martin Elementary School
Hackett Elementary School - Description: Summer READS is a literacy program that incorporates Reading, Enrichment, the Arts, Development and Stem-2 topics for children. Camp-goers learn in classroom settings with certified teachers and often get the chance to showcase their work and projects to parents throughout the program. Open to Philadelphia School District children ONLY.
- Dates: 6 week program; Monday – Friday 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Art Program
- Name: Makerspace Workshop
- Place: Philadelphia Free Library
- Description: Come make art and enjoy activities working with technology, arts and crafts, science and math. This program is for children between the ages of 7 to 17.
- Dates: Runs Monday through Thursday, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., from June 15 through August 14
